Chelle embodied what it means to be part of a community and was deeply committed to our local Jewish community, and to Jews in Israel and around the world. She served the Jewish community through a variety of organizations, including Jewish Federation & Family Services (JFFS), Temple Beth Sholom, ORT, and Hadassah.

Chelle retired at the end of 2017 after an illustrious 40-year career with JFFS. Her extraordinary tenure with JFFS included positions in fundraising, leadership development, community relations, and grant-making. Chelle was founding director of our community’s annual celebration of Israel’s Independence Day and served as Director of Young Leadership, Women’s Philanthropy, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and Planning & Funding. Before retiring, she held the position of Director of Planned Giving and of the Laguna Woods Region.

Chelle was predeceased by her husband, Alan, who was also instrumental in shaping JFFS. Alan signed the charter that founded the Jewish Community Council of Orange County in 1965, which later became Jewish Federation & Family Services.
